DNS lookup.
Look up the public DNS records for any domain and read the answer in plain English, for A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, CNAME and CAA records. This tool sends the domain to our server and public DNS resolvers. No account is needed.
Reading the answers
What each record type does.
Every record type answers a different question about a domain. Pick the one that matches the job you are trying to finish.
A (address, IPv4)
The IPv4 address the name points to. This is where browsers and apps connect.
AAAA (address, IPv6)
The IPv6 address the name points to, the newer form of an A record.
MX (email servers)
Which servers accept email for the domain, and the order they are tried in.
TXT (text and verification)
Free-form text. Email security records like SPF, DKIM and DMARC live here, along with ownership verification records.
NS (nameservers)
Which nameservers answer for the domain. Whoever runs these controls every other record.
CNAME (alias)
An alias: this name points at another name, and that name provides the answers.
CAA (certificate rules)
Which certificate authorities may issue HTTPS certificates for the domain.
DNS changes are not instant. A record you just edited can take minutes to hours to show up here, depending on the time to live set on the old answer, and results may be cached for one minute. If an answer looks stale, wait a little and look it up again.
Checking email records specifically? The SPF Lookup Analyzer expands a whole SPF record, and the Free Technology Checkup scores your email security, website and domain protection in about 20 seconds.
